The airline Vueling, of the IAG group, will close its bases in Madrid, Coruña and Asturias, although it will not stop operating in these destinations, as union sources have confirmed to Efe.
The decision, communicated yesterday Monday by the management to the representatives of the workers, affects 145 employees (86 in Madrid, 30 in Coruña and 29 in Asturias), which the company has committed to relocating.
The bases are airports in which the planes are parked overnight, so that their closure does not mean that they stop offering routes to or from the aforementioned destinations, but rather that the planes will rest in other airports.
“Inoperative”
These three bases were “inoperative since the start of the pandemic”, according to the sources, who point out that Vueling will maintain its Spanish bases in Barcelona, Bilbao, Santiago, Valencia, Alicante, Seville, Palma, Ibiza, Tenerife, Las Palmas and Malaga.
