KaDeWe Group relies on new purchasing structure

The luxury department store operator KaDeWe Group is restructuring several positions in purchasing and appoints Angela Schmidli as the new purchasing manager for womenswear.

Schmidli took up her new position on July 1, the KaDeWe Group announced on Monday. In addition to women’s fashion, she also oversees the purchase of kids’ wear. She previously held management positions at the Swiss department stores Grieder and Jelmoli.

Julie Gasperini, who previously worked at the KaDeWe Group as Head of Buying Women’s Fashion, Accessories & Beauty, focuses on the areas of cosmetics, shoes and accessories.

Purchasing management in menswear, on the other hand, remains under the leadership of Torsten Stiewe. The overall management of purchasing also remains with Simone Heift, who as Buying Director is also a member of the management board.

Restructuring in purchasing due to expansion to Düsseldorf and Vienna

Marcel Feldmann will take over the ‘Home & Living’ area as Purchasing Manager from August 1st. He comes to the KaDeWe Group from Brands4Friends, where he was most recently Head of Purchasing.

The food sector has also received a new purchasing manager. Oliver Kramny, the previous Head of Sales for the area, will become the new Food Purchasing Manager.

The reason for the new structure in purchasing is the expansion of the KaDeWe Group to Düsseldorf and Vienna as well as the expansion of the online business, according to Berlin. In Düsseldorf, the KaDeWe Group, which is 50.1 percent owned by the Thai department store operator Central Group and 49.9 percent owned by the Austrian Signa Holding, is moving into the Carsch Haus. In Vienna, KaDeWe will be the main tenant of a new building that is scheduled to open in autumn 2023 at the former location of the Leiner department store. The retailer also announced an overhaul of its online presence in January.

In addition to the two new department stores in Vienna and Düsseldorf, the KaDeWe Group operates the eponymous location in Berlin, the Alsterhaus in Hamburg and the Oberpollinger in Munich.
