In 2011 and 2013, Clarke, best known as Daenerys Targaryen in the series Game of Throneshad two aneurysms. In an aneurysm, a blood vessel widens and can rupture. When a part of the brain doesn’t get blood, that part ‘disappears’, Clarke explains.
“I belong to the very very small group of people who survive this,” said the 35-year-old actress. In the broadcast she watches a scan of her brain. “There is quite a lot missing. I always have a little laugh about it.”
