The 8th edition of the textbook “Technical Knowledge Textile Retailing” has been published to coincide with the upcoming round of training. On 417 pages it contains the complete specialist knowledge for the textile and fashion trade including house/home textiles and haberdashery. In addition to updated market data, the new edition has been expanded to include new topics such as “digitization strategies” and “fields of action in multi-channelling”.
The textbook contains a total of 21 chapters, divided into a commercial and a product-related part. The commercial part covers the following topics: Textile retail, purchasing and disposition, market and customer orientation, customer advice and sales, commercial and competition law, merchandise management and controlling as well as personnel and training. The product information part deals with the topics: fibres, labeling of textiles, functions of textiles, ecology, yarns, textile surfaces, textile finishing, materials for clothing, leather and fur, clothing manufacture, clothing dimensions, product development, product groups and fashion epochs.
The reference book is ideal for all employees in the textile retail trade, especially for trainees (salespeople, retail clerks) and lateral entrants. For illustration, it contains practical examples throughout, the visualization is carried out with many colored illustrations. It is therefore ideally suited as a reference work (also for bosses) as well as for self-study and for exam preparation. The work was created by experienced vocational educators in cooperation with the BTE.
