Vandaag forced the racers Alpe d’Huez, which together with the missed wel de strafste wielerverhalen. The grandchildren of the Tour Belgen share over the years experienced with the mythical climate.

“What Alpe d’Huez for me betekent? De 21 bochten. I’m not worried about the tour and we’re in the middle of it, but I don’t want to worry about the bochten.”

“I’ll have him pas in June tijdens de hoogtestage in Tignes voor het eerst. In de Dauphiné heb ik ooit wel de laatste three kilometers anxious, maar dat telt niet. My first col ooit was de Col du Rousset, I was toen eleven years.

“I didn’t know it anymore. The Alpe d’Huez-Ervaring heb ik preorlopig dus alleen maar kunnen meemaken op tv. I have a great affinity with the Mont Ventoux, which I said as a small manetje al eens.
“De Oranje-bocht is kept in the collection. Anything weet that het op de alp feest is en that is magnificent.”
Florian Vermeersch
“My first experience was in 2014 with the nieuwelingen van de ploeg Pauwels Sauzen-Bingoal. Het was op stage, so he wasn’t a lot of people. When the new age was met by the juniors, it was going to be really hard for my bergop.
“Ikijk ernaaruit om de alp op ter rijden omdat er vrienden van mij op de weg naar boven zullen staan. Het zal also the heaviest stage of the tour zijn. I know that we can’t add worstelen with tijdslimiet en that we’re relatively makkelijk omhoog kunnen rijden.”
Frederic Frison
“I’m not worried. Het zal wel een ervaring zijn met al the bochten and the mensenmassa. Het people zal de pijn bergop. A pint of beer is allowed, so you can. Maar gezien de covidomstandigheden zal ik dat niet doen.
“Alpe d’Huez is me before bijgebleven toen ik Lance Armstrong er in de klimtijdrit in 2004 op tv naar boven zag rijden. I’ll remember me that het people toen heel dichtbij kwam en dat er twee motards voor hem talk om hem te beschermen.”

“I can helaas a little bit over tell. I had the air to Alpe d’Huez nooit gedaan and heb geen flauw idea wat me te guarded state. Last year I had a couple of cols in the Vuelta. I would like to see it in the road book where it is called. Anything bochten, ever? I don’t know that at all. Dat de Nederlanders in bocht zeven staan zal ik wel onthouden.”
Guillaume Van Keirsbulck
“My first thing was in the Tour of 2018. It was a lot of people, it was really something. Vooral met al the Nederlanders who stood in Bocht zeven. Ik reed, of course, in de gruppetto to boven. Het was op het gemak, maar the fans bleven ge doen. It’s a shame that Mathieu van der Poel isn’t there anymore. Met al die Hollanders in de buurt had drikken hij wel een wheelie.”
Amaury Capiot
“Het wordt my first keer. Verder dan de Vosgezen ben qua air conditioning not yet geraakt. Heel de rit zal voor mij in het teken staan van Nairo Quintana, the little sleutelhanger. Het is vooral mijn taak om hem op het vlakke uit de wind te houden.
“I think about Armstrong and Ullrich in the 2003 tour. Het was the first iconic duel in the tour that I consciously meemaakt en zoiets blijft natuurlijk bij.”
