Electronic devices such as smartphones, laptops or game consoles usually have an operating temperature. With the Nintendo Switch, this is between 5 and a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius. If it is hotter, the games console can overheat. That’s why even Nintendo Switch players are now warning of excessive heat.
Nintendo warns against excessive heat
In a recent tweet, the Japanese point out the possible problems caused by excessive heat on the Nintendo Switch. They therefore advise using the console only within the specified operating temperature and also to ensure that no openings on the device are blocked. This ensures that the Nintendo Switch is well ventilated in hot weather. The indications are currently to be taken seriously, as the thermometer in Germany likes to climb to well over 30 degrees in summer.
The Switch is a hybrid console, the Switch Lite even a handheld. It is quite possible for players to use the Nintendo Switch to gamble in the park in the heat, at the lake in the sun or in the garden. But special caution is required here, as heat can build up in direct sunlight.

What happens if the Nintendo Switch gets too hot?
If it gets too hot, the switch goes into sleep mode. It is then no longer possible to play games on the console. In sleep mode, the device cools down to prevent the Nintendo Switch from suffering long-term damage from the heat. If foreign objects such as dust or dirt clog the ventilation slots, the console can also overheat. Nintendo recommends carefully cleaning the openings here. Under no circumstances should the switch be disassembled for this. Users should also make sure that the air does not accumulate. The docking station of the console should therefore be set up in such a way that air exchange is possible. So the Nintendo Switch has no place directly on the wall if you want to avoid excessive heat development.
