Russian athletes are threatened with complete exclusion from the next Olympics, which will take place in the summer of 2024 in Paris.

The reason for this is of course the war in Ukraine, but also the fact that Russian athletes competing in the Olympic qualifying competitions is under a rock because of the bans imposed by various sports federations.

Russian athletes have participated in the Olympics since the 2016 Rio Games without national symbols as punishment for the country’s state-run doping program.

Having been active in the International Olympic Committee for a long time Craig Reedie according to it, it is unlikely that Russians and Belarusians would be allowed to play sports in Paris.

Of the Olympic sports, only cycling, tennis and judo currently allow Russians to compete in international events.

The Olympics have typically been for Russia’s dictatorial president to Vladimir Putin a showcase for the country’s propaganda through its sports machinery. Under Putin’s leadership, huge sums of money have been invested in Russian sports.
