Public Prosecution Service in appeal against acquittal ‘scooter murder’

The Public Prosecution Service will appeal against the court’s decision, which acquits 34-year-old Jama A. of involvement in the death of Horinese Dimitri. On August 8, 2020, 26-year-old Dimitri was found dead in a ditch in Nibbixwoud, under his scooter.

On August 8, 2020, 26-year-old Dimitri was found dead in a ditch in Nibbixwoud, under his scooter. According to the public prosecutor, 33-year-old Jama A. first knocked him unconscious and then dragged him towards the ditch. A. himself denies all accusations.

Investigation revealed that Dimitri died as a result of a crime. But the court finds that there is insufficient evidence that Jama A. killed him. The Public Prosecution Service is challenging the decision and still wants to prosecute Jama A. for the murder of Dimitri.

Theft by force

However, the court convicted Jama A. for committing violent theft from a house in Medemblik, growing hemp plants and possessing 400 grams of amphetamine. The suspect was sentenced to three years in prison for these offenses.

Family happy

On behalf of Dimitri’s family, their lawyer is happy to respond to the news of an appeal. “The family was very disappointed in the judge’s ruling. They hope that the Court will come to a different verdict and believe that the suspect is indeed responsible for Dimitri’s death.”
