3M can partly recover remediation costs from taxpayers and “deal will cost Flanders hundreds of millions in water treatment”

The remediation costs of 250 million euros and the compensation of 100 million euros that 3M pays to the government for the PFOS pollution in Zwijndrecht, the company can deduct from its taxable profit. That is what ‘De Standaard’ writes today. Lawyer Isabelle Larmuseau, who specializes in environmental law, also points out that the agreement will cost Flanders hundreds of millions in water treatment.
