Five homes evacuated after explosion recently closed home in Huizen

After a nighttime explosion in a house in Huizen in North Holland, five surrounding houses were evacuated on Sunday. Police say residents are expected to be able to return home during the day.

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, around 1.50 am, an explosion took place in a house that was closed due to threats last week by order of the mayor. The explosion caused the windows to pop out of their sashes and furniture flew out the window. No one was injured in the explosion reports the police

The mayor of Huizen, Niek Meijer, closed the house last week together with another house in the street. A special security unit supervised for several days. Meijer shows himself in a comment on the municipal website relieved that there were no injuries. “This threat mainly focused on the house where the explosion now took place, in the middle of a residential area. […] Of course everyone in the area was shocked,” said the mayor. “I am very aware of the impact this has on them. My concern now lies with the residents and local residents.”

The police held last Thursday a suspect in connection with the threat around the house in Huizen where the explosion took place. It concerns a 42-year-old man from The Hague, who is also suspected of involvement in previous explosions in Hoef en Haag and in Tienhoven. The police keep in mind that those explosions are related to “a conflict in the drug environment.”

Also explosion in Delft

In the night from Friday to Saturday, around 03.15 am, an explosion also took place in a gallery flat in Delft, according to reports. Broadcasting West† Two people were taken to hospital with injuries. The police suspect intent. Witnesses said they saw two men run away after the explosion.
