Matthijs van Nieuwkerk must be questioned under oath if it is up to Martin Bosma of the PVV. It seems to him to be a good way to gain clarity about salary structures at the NPO.
Presenters who work at the NPO have a salary ceiling of about two hundred thousand euros per year. It is an open secret that TV stars can still earn more with all kinds of constructions. A disgrace, says PVV MP Martin Bosma. He wants a parliamentary questioning to clarify salary structures.
Salary constructions
Martin wants major NPO stars such as Matthijs van Nieuwkerk to be interrogated under oath. “The Jeroen Pauwen, Paul de Leeuwen, Matthijs van Nieuwkerken and Floortje Dessings of this world must be legally paid under the beaming standard, but of course they can never pay the rent with that meager money,” he says cynically in a debate.
He continues: “Come, come counsel. Something was found. Broadcasting associations such as VARA conclude deals with the production companies of those presenters. An agreement about a guaranteed turnover of millions. Cash desk!”
Behind bars
It is time for these TV stars to account for this, Martin thinks. “There needs to be a proper investigation into those crazy, obscure salary structures in Hilversum. Then we can hear them all under oath.”
Besides Matthijs, he knows a few names that should come up. “Jeroen Pauw, Paul de Leeuw, Shula Rijxman, Frans Klein. And if they don’t tell the truth, they just end up behind bars.”
