ORversize. A trend that has been the protagonist of the catwalks for some time. And which sees an indispensable leader at the forefront: the t-shirt. Timeless regular fit, short to reveal the navel as Gen Z likes. Or, precisely, maxi: the most difficult model to wear, due to the cut – undoubtedly the most comfortable, but often not very donating.
Where we have seen it
Oversized t-shirts, in the Spring-Summer 2022 collections, there have been all kinds of them. From revival pieces with printed logos reminiscent of T-shirts from Festivalgoer, combined with skimpy denim shorts and cut-out ankle boots, up to garments with clean silhouettes and nuances. White leaves room for pastel tones, to emphasize seasonality. Although the most popular non-color seems to be the gray: basic, but original.
Like that of the t-shirt spotted at the fashion show of Peter Dor: ihe first show by the young American designer reinterprets that minimalist aesthetic dear to a few other native colleagues, such as the duo from The Row. Specifically, the t-shirt: basketball, with a stitched collar and short sleeves at the elbow and lowered. Exaggerated in proportions, it stretches down to cover the belly and hips, straight thanks to the heavy cotton.
How to combine the oversized t-shirt in Spring-Summer 2022
Despite the sporty inspiration, the look is surprisingly elegant. Athleisure, to put it in the terms of fashion: a mix that elevates the playful inspiration and transforms it into a pretext to create an outfit that is only apparently casual and effortless. The maxi t-shirt in fact matches the light pink summer trousersslipped like a model from grande soirée. The excessive and redundant length of the shirt is balanced by the impalpable lightness of the trousers. On the feet, instead of sneakers, a pair of high satin mules in a brighter shade that incorporates the pigment. To underline the idea sought, the bag clutch in animal print carried by hand.
