Rick Hilberts has won the tenth edition of the Drèents Liedtiesfestival tonight. When all the public votes and the judgment of the jury in the ATLAS Theater in Emmen had been added up, Hilberts came up with the song Falling stars best forward. Beau Veldkamp finished second and Gercoh & de Schavuit’n took the bronze.
The jury called the song “innovative and unearthly beautiful, a simple song that needs nothing more than a good singer and beautiful lyrics.”
Rick Hilberts wins a cash prize of 2000 euros to spend on recording and releasing the winning song. He received the prize from last year’s winner Jolien Wonink-Dijkstra.
As a representative of Low Saxon, he is also delegated to the European Song Contest for Minority Languages.
A total of ten artists had a chance to win the title: Rick Hilberts, Maurice Mulderij, Jaap Lamfers, Gers, Emile Boer, Harold Habing (+ band), Beau Veldkamp, Marianne Veenstra, Brúúnsma and Gercoh & de Schavuit’n.
