The Public Prosecution Service has released the 23-year-old man from Hoogeveen who was suspected of attempted murder after he hit a police car with a tractor on the A37 on Wednesday evening. The officer has not been able to determine that it is an attempted murder and the suspicion against the man has been lowered.

On Wednesday evening, the highway around the Holsloot interchange in Drenthe was blocked with tractors in protest against the cabinet’s nitrogen policy. The highway was closed in both directions for some time. About two hundred sympathizers turned out for the action, according to the police.
According to the police, a “threatening situation” had arisen and after that the tractor would have run into the police car. The officers in the car reported attempted murder.
