Work on Middenveldweg Hoogeveen completed – RTV Drenthe

The work around the Middenveldweg in Hoogeveen has been completed. Alderman Roelof Bisschop today symbolically removed the last barrier to complete the project.

Over the past ten months, the Middenveldweg between the Toldijk and the A28 has been completely overhauled. The traffic jam during rush hour in particular was a thorn in the side for the municipality of Hoogeveen. New roundabouts, among other things, should ensure that traffic flows better. New traffic lights have also been installed.

A roundabout has been constructed at the entrances and exits of the A28. These are actually two roundabouts that are connected by a short road. Traffic coming from the south may deviate outside the roundabout. This also applies to traffic that enters the A28 via Middenveldweg in the direction of Assen.

A so-called ‘turbo roundabout’ has been constructed at the intersection of Middenveldweg and De Stroom. This is a roundabout with two lanes and is intended to ensure a faster traffic flow. The traffic lights at the intersection with the Toldijk have been renewed. The previous installation was almost finished and caused long queues.

According to the municipality, this was the perfect opportunity to tackle the road. The central government and the province will reimburse the costs of the project for 75 percent. ‘A lucky one’ according to alderman Derk Reneman, who gave the starting signal for the refurbishment last year.
