The truth is that Apple’s HomePod is not one of the company’s most popular products
Even so, it has a fairly clear target audience
Apple plans to launch a massive number of new products this fall and in the first half of 2023. And while many of the devices the company is reportedly working on won’t come as much of a surprise, there is one that’s interesting. According to Mark Gurman, from Bloomber and as reported by Engadget, Apple is preparing a new HomePod speaker which will look and sound similar to the original model from 2018. The company has discontinued the HomePod in 2021 without announcing a direct replacement. If you want a smart speaker with Siri built in, your only option at the moment is the $99 HomePod mini.
According to Gurman, the new model will feature Apple’s upcoming S8 chip and an updated screen on top of the speaker that could include multi-touch functionality. Currently the HomePod Mini has an S5 chip, so the new one is expected to have more power.
Presumably Apple It also plans to price the speaker more competitively than the 2018 model..
