The Finnish Basketball Association announced on Sunday that it is the best player in the country Lauri Markkanen is involved in the summer World Cup qualifiers and the September European Championships.
Markkanen’s play was confirmed when the NBA gave him permission to take part in the national matches at midsummer.
– It’s really cool to play with Susijeng for the first time in a long time. The previous match in Susijeng has been so long that I have definitely developed from the player I was in the summer of 2018, Markkanen said in a statement from the Basketball Association.
The wolf gang will meet next week, first on Thursday in Espoo, Sweden, and on Sunday in Rijeka, Croatia. Finland will lead the qualifying group after four matches.
Markkanen will also be able to represent Finland in a possible World Cup qualifier in August. The last time Markkanen played for the national team in the summer of 2018 was in the World Cup qualifiers.
The autumn European Championships will be played from 1 to 18. September. Finland is playing its first block in the Czech capital, Prague.
Markkanen, 25, has been playing in the NBA since 2017. He has represented the Cleveland Cavaliers for less than a year.
