We tested the best skin care products for men

Men’s skin equally needs regular care products.

Consumption of men’s skin care products is growing – and so is it. It also needs moisturizing, cleansing and care products for men’s complexion. Interest in facial care is becoming more widespread, and therefore the cosmetics market is also rushed with more powerful products specifically designed for men.

As we said earlier, there are two products most commonly found in a men’s makeup bag: a moisturizer and an eye cream. In addition, young men in particular wear exfoliating products and masks on their faces, among other things.

Like women, men need care, hydration, sun protection and anti-aging products to help them age. However, the skin of men and women differs in a few ways. For example, the male hormone testosterone affects sweat and sebum secretion, especially during adolescence. In addition, men have thicker skin and have more collagen in their skin than women.

Male testers tested 12 products:

This is how the test was done: nine men tested the products for at least a week.

For cleaning:

Nivea Sensitive Pro Face & Beard Wash, 9.95 e, Eleven.

Here’s how: The product is slightly thicker than ordinary hand soap, for example. It is nice to apply on the face. What is special about it is that it does not foam much. The best thing about detergent is that it does not dry out facial skin like hand soaps. After use, the skin remained hydrated.

Special: Plus the feeling after washing on skin that felt both moisturized and supple. Minus the ample dosing of the pump bottle. The scent of the product is really mild: which is definitely suitable for sensitive skin.

Lumene Tyyni Cleansing Cream, 12.90 e, Lumene.

Here’s how: The balancing, foaming cleansing cream works well and cleanses skin impurities well. The clay-like cleansing product turns liquid and washes the face effectively, leaving the skin soft at first. However, on the dry skin of the tester, the aftertaste is slightly dry, although the cream should not be dried. Very neutral and clean scent that does not differ from traditional cleansing creams.

Special: The domestic Lumene vegan product is made in Finland. The product contains many northern ingredients such as mesanger, rose root and organic hemp seed oil.

Bulldog Oil Control Facewash, 12.50 e, Kicks.

Here’s how: Foaming cleanser for oily skin. The washing feel was a little oily, but in a pretty good way. A pleasant product that cleanses the face well and leaves the skin feeling fresh. Didn’t seem to dry out the skin, from Plussa.

Special: The aroma of the product is fresh and pleasant. The natural cosmetics porridge contains magic nuts and willow bark and juniper extracts.

Shaving and after shave products:

Lavera Naturkosmetik Gentle Shaving Foam, 9.95 e, Well-being.

Here’s how: Works surprisingly well when driving, even if the product does not foam properly and it is therefore more challenging to keep the substance on the face. The product had a slightly soapy water composition and was much more fluid than foaming shaving foams or gels.

Special: The fluid composition made running more messy than a regular gel or foam that doesn’t drip any drops into the environment. The odorless product is suitable for sensitive skin. The natural cosmetics contain aloe vera and jojoba oil, which are promised to soothe the skin and prevent redness and irritation.

Neal’s Yard Aftershave Balm, 29.50 e, Jolie.

Here’s how: A fluid product, not very thick, but very soothing to the skin. The product is packaged in a convenient pump bottle that works well and is suitably compact. Lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin. Makes its case, but not very versatile when compared to a more odorless universal moisturizer.

Special: The product has a pretty strong scent that can split opinions. The tester thinks the scent is aniseed-like, which is ok, but didn’t entice the tester to apply the product to a face other than the shaving area. The product contains caring and moisturizing ingredients such as aloe vera, baobab and hyaluronic acid.

For humidification:

Elemis Daily Moisture Booster, 51 e, Boozt.

Here’s how: High-quality and versatile, light moisturizer. The tester used it as a general moisturizer for the face as well as after shaving. The product has a pleasantly neutral odor. The cream is also promised to protect the skin from free radicals and environmental stresses. Contains, among other things, Polynesian green tamanu oil and column cactus flowers to soothe the skin after shaving.

Special: The packaging works well. A great product for the trip as well, as it does not take up too much space and can be used anywhere.

Nivea Menmalist Face Cream, 8.90 e, Tokmanni.

Here’s how: Face fat is considerably thicker and thicker than many hand fats, for example. It is absorbed very well and leaves no white layers on the skin or the edge of the beard. That is, the fat does not need to be rubbed into the skin for very long to spread. The tester liked the product very much precisely because of its ease of use. Due to the rate of absorption, it can be used in the morning and evening, and even untreated facial skin is better after a little experience.

Special: Based on user experience, this is a truly easy face fat. The fat is absorbed into the skin really quickly: this was a positive surprise for the tester. Therefore, it can be used well even in the mornings before going to work. The mild aroma of the product is pleasant.

Skin Better Science Solo Hydrating Defense Serum MEN Gel Cream, 184 e, Dermarome.

Here’s how: A light, moisturizing serum gel cream that softens the skin while smoothing and brightening the skin tone. The gel moisturizer feels good and the skin has a thin, moisturized feeling after use. The scent world of the product was not on the tester’s mind. When used daily, the product is promised to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, balance sebum production, prevent redness and irritation, and protect the skin from environmental factors such as air pollution.

Special: The tester felt that the product was doing its job, leaving a pleasant feeling on the skin after use. The product is paraben free.

Novage Men Energizing & Hydrating Booster Serum, 55 e, Oriflame.

Here’s how: The light and moisturizing, vegan serum was quickly absorbed. Pleasant, cooling feeling when applying the product. Promised to leave a matte finish on the skin: hard to judge if left, but a feeling of well-being remained on the skin. Adequate product as it did not need to be applied in large quantities. The tester used the product alone, but the dry skin could apparently also use a moisturizer on top of this.

Special: The skin felt soft and not tightening. Pros of fast absorption time, ie suitable for the busy. Stylish jar that is easy to dispense.

Rokua Skincare Hydrating Face Gel, 44 e, Biodelly.

Here’s how: The moisturizing gel product feels very light and pleasant on the skin. It feels absorbed quickly and the aftertaste is soft. Leaves skin glowing. Works well: with more regular use, you will notice that your skin stays more healthy and moisturized. Pleasant, fresh and relatively natural scent. Quite unobtrusive and suitable for many.

Special: A domestic brand of natural cosmetics, all of whose raw materials come from Finland. Plus the lightness of the product, which is at least suitable for the tester’s slightly drying skin type.

Other:

Novage Men Eye Rescue Gel, 33 e, Oriflame.

Here’s how: An aqueous and very light gel-like product that does not leave the skin around the eyes oily but is absorbed in an instant. The product has a neutral odor. The cooling gel is applied to the skin around the eyes using a convenient roller applicator.

Special: Because the product is significantly lighter in composition, it does not seem as effective in moisturizing as creamy, traditional eye creams. However, this product is primarily intended to fade eye bags, dark eye areas and swelling.

Bulldog Lemon & Bergamot Shower Gel, 19.90 e, Stockmann.

Here’s how: The moisturizing, sulfate-free shower gel spreads softly on the skin and is very plentiful. The special novelty scent was not on the tester’s mind, but quickly disappeared from the skin. Adequately, a bottle made of recycled materials is not designed to be taken away from home due to its large size. The reduced label on the product does not actually resemble a shower gel.

Special: The shower gel is vegan. The world of citrus scents comes from completely organic ingredients.
