At least nine people have been killed in Russian air strikes on the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Kharkiv. In addition, the Cathedral of the Caves Monastery (the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra) in the center was severely hit. The monastery, a symbol of Ukrainian spiritual and cultural history, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 1051.
