Assen and the wider area are of course dominated this weekend by the 91st TT and all the festivities that go with it. But if that doesn’t make you hot or cold or if you have seen it after one round of the fair in the city center, what can you do in the coming days? Well, enough! We have listed a number of suggestions for you.
The brink in Vries will be turned upside down on Saturday during the second edition of STRAATbrass. About 150 brass players come to the village. Various corps compete with each other with a marching parade and a concert competition in the music dome. Mayor Marcel Thijsen van Tynaarlo will open the event at 11 a.m. Everyone can come and enjoy the sounding copper on the Drenthe boulders for free.
Volleyball club Tjoba from Klazienaveen will hold the first Tjoba Beach Volleyball tournament at sports hall De Planet in the village on Saturday and Sunday. Young and old, experienced and inexperienced can hit a ball. You can no longer register, but come and watch, encourage and have a drink!
The Struunmarkt is held on Sunday at the market area on Bosweg in Diever; a mix of a fair and flea market. Fashion, brocante, jewelry, home decoration, books and hobby items; the offer is very diverse. The market lasts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The National Cycling Championships will be held in Midden-Drenthe from Friday to Sunday. The Col du Vam is of course also part of the course. Due to the TT, the men’s course has already been run on Friday, but on Saturday at 2.40 pm the professional women will start from Westerbork for their round over 124.5 kilometers. The girls will start at 9:30 am on Saturday and the junior women will start at 11:30 am. On Sunday it will be the turn of the elite riders.
