The Finals 2022 – live ticker from Friday, June 24th, 2022

15:34

Marco Koch goes into the pool

The men’s 100 meters are coming up. A big name awaits us in Marco Koch. However, the veteran is no longer at the level of the old days and just about made it into the final. Melvin Imoudu is the favourite.

15:31

Mrozinski wins 400 freestyle gold

Julia Mrozinski has to stretch again, but defends against Nicole Maier’s attack and wins the gold medal in 4:11 minutes. Bronze goes to Maya Werner.

15:29

Swimming: Mrozinski

The women’s 400 meter freestyle continues. Julia Mrozinski controls the final and after 200 meters is already a good second ahead of Nicole Meier. The times aren’t that bad either. That could be a 4:10-4:15.

15:25

Swimming: Ahmed beats Beth

Mahmoud Ahmed leads the 800m race from the start. Although Silas Beth stays on the heels of the 26-year-old, he can no longer take a trick. Ahmed swims new best and wins gold in 8:02 minutes. The favorite Silas Beth finishes second just behind. Cedric Bussing wins the bronze medal.

15:21

Storl German shot put champion

Simon Bayer knocks out another one! Although 19.94 meters are not enough for David Storl, they ensure a conciliatory finish. The man from Sindelfingen takes silver, while Dennis Lukas takes bronze with 19.39 meters just ahead of Silas Ristl. David Storl loses his balance on the last attempt, but can be satisfied with first place and the new season best (20.32 meters).

15:18

Gymnastics: favorites keep each other harmless

Kim Bui finishes her uneven bars routine with a double somersault and twist and does it extremely well. Meanwhile Scheder convinces with a rating of just under 13 points in the jump. Now it’s up to Sarah Voss on the balance beam to find the necessary balance. The favorite stays on top and only shows a slightly too big hop when leaving. After two apparatus, Voss is in the lead ahead of Bui and Scheder who have the same number of points.

15:14

Swimming: what does top talent Silas Beth show us?

Although the German top aces are missing in swimming, we will still see some interesting athletes. The first in the men’s 800-meter final. The highly talented Silas Beth has already swum a time of 7:55 minutes this season and will be at the start at the European Championships in Munich. The Fresitil specialist is only 19 years old but has Mahmoud Ahmed as a competitor in the first race of the upcoming session.

15:09

Shot put: Bayer moves up to second place

Simon Bayer increases to 19.49 meters and looks reasonably satisfied for the first time. Dennis Lukas ranks just behind on the bronze place. David Storl cannot improve in his fifth attempt. Now the eight remaining athletes have their last attempt.

15:04

Decision made in Para Triathlon

In the meantime, the medal winners in the mixed relay Para Triathlon have also been determined. As expected, the Schulz/Ludwig/Schulz team was able to prevail with a lead of almost six minutes in front of Karas/Konek/Ehrler and Cremer/Maas/Westbrock.

15:00

Shot put: Storl is gaining momentum

David Storl makes the crowd cheer! The figurehead of the German shot put improves to 20.32 meters. He has increased his season best by one centimeter. A good half a meter is still missing for participation in the European Championships in Munich. Today, on the other hand, he seems unrivaled.

14:59

Gymnastics: Voss on course

Sarah Voss does not burn much on the uneven bars and thus underpins her ambitions for gold. Mistakes were hardly noticeable during the exercise and her exit couldn’t have been much better.

14:56

Gymnastics: Scheder with 12,800 points on uneven bars

Six years ago, Sophie Scheder surprisingly won bronze on the uneven bars at the Rio Olympics. Since then, the 25-year-old has had to deal with many injuries. The Uneven Bars Specialist has to catch up a few times and does a small lunge backwards on both landings. Accordingly, her facial expression is also a little critical. It was 12,800 points.

14:51

Gymnastics: Seitz with good practice on uneven bars

Good exercise by Elisabetz Seitz on the uneven bars! With a few exceptions, the most successful gymnast at German championships shows clean and spectacular flight elements and comes safely to a standstill after the dismount. 13,400 points are not outstanding, but very decent. She can be happy with that.

14:49

Storl breaks the 20 meter mark

Dennis Lukas just surpasses the 19 meter mark and cannot improve. David Storl literally roars the ball forward, but the two-time world champion is tough. After all, the 20 is now in front. 20.00 meters! Nevertheless: The planing technique used is a bit outdated.

14:46

Gymnastics: Kim Bui with a good start

We’ll take a look at Kim Bui at the jump. The Olympic finalist gives us a clean execution and lands safely between the two lines. This will definitely keep her in the fight for gold.

14:40

Swimming medal decisions without German top aces

From 3:15 p.m. the hunt for gold, silver and bronze starts in the pool, but for many it is also about qualifying for the European Championships in Munich. From the DSV point of view, the top aces are missing in almost all of them. After all, the World Cup in Rome is currently in full swing. A somewhat unfortunate clash of appointments.

14:38

Shot put: Another PB for Tizian Lauria

The world’s best U-20 shot putter, Tizian Lauria, lets out a loud cheer. With 18.54 he improves his PB and moves up to sixth place. That looks good with a top 8 place and three more attempts associated with it.

14:33

Shot put: DLV aces with problems

Dennis Lukas took second place in the first attempt with 19.39 meters. On his second shot, however, he loses his balance after his dynamically used twist shot technique. Invalid attempt! Then it’s David Storl’s turn, who, with 19.78 meters, fails again at the 20 meter mark. We then hear a loud swearing from Simon Bayer, who invalidates his failed attempt.

14:30

Gymnastics: Women’s all-around starts at 2:30 p.m

The all-around gymnastics is coming up. For the women it is important to generate the highest total of points on the four apparatus vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor. The favorites for the championship title are Kim Bui, who was in the 2021 Olympic all-around final, and Sarah Voss, who became German all-around champion in 2019. Defending champion and record champion Elisabeth Seitz, like Pauline Schäfer, will not start on all devices.

14:28

Archery: Stefan & Manuela Stender win gold for Hänigsen

After both teams wobbled a bit, the level is now higher again. The Hänigsen duo fights, but the last arrow shot only goes into the five. Göttingen can make everything clear and won’t let anyone take the butter off their bread. After an eight from Stefan Stender, Manuela Stender adds a nine and is able to make it 6:2 in the fourth set. This means that the barebow gold winners in the mixed team have been determined.

14:23

Coburg wins in speed polo

PSC Coburg is the new German champion in speed polo. The canoeists from Coburg defeated KCAW Berlin 3:2 in the final. Third place went to Meidericher KC, who defeated RM Essen in a duel for bronze.

14:20

Shot put: Storl initially in the lead

David Storl enters the ring for his first try and heaves the seven-plus ball roughly to the 20-meter line. That’s not so bad after all. 19.98 meters light up for the former world-class pusher. Simon Bayer doesn’t hit the ball perfectly and can’t counter.

14:18

2:2 between Goettingen and Haenigsen

Göttingen got off to a better start and took a 2-0 lead. In the second set, however, a five, a seven and a ten are enough for BSV Hänigsen to equalize. The duo from Göttingen wobbles a lot and has great problems finding the center of the target when the wind increases.

14:14

Battle for gold in archery

After the most exciting duel for bronze, the mixed team of bare archers is going for gold and silver. BSV Hänigsen and ASC Göttingen face each other. The first set is running.

14:11

Shot put: New record for Lauria Tizian

Lauria Tizian (VfL Sindelosgingen) balances the ball in the first shot accompanied by a loud scream from 18.31 meters. He leads after the first four athletes and can look forward to a new personal best.

14:09

Archery: Oberbauerschaft secures bronze

The mixed team from Oberbauerschaft is in each other’s arms after defeating BS Nürtingen 15:12 in the jump-off. The team wins the bronze medal.

14:05

Men’s fencing: Rieger defeats Sanita by a hair’s breadth and wins gold

Shortly after the women’s epee-style final, the men’s foil-style final also took place. In a close battle, 20-year-old Laurenz Rieger from TSG Weinheim prevailed against André Sanita, who was much more experienced internationally and was ten years his senior. In Rieger’s 15:14 victory, the decision was only made with the last goal.

14:03

Fencing: Wetzker wins gold in the duel between Leverkusen

Laura Katalin Wetzker already won gold in the women’s epee fencing in the late morning. The 19-year-old from Bayer 04 Leverkusen won the final battle 15:13 against her teammate Alexandra Ehler.

14:01

Who will get bronze in archery?

Currently the duel for bronze in archery at bare bow is running. This is a bow without bow sights and stabilizers. At the moment there is a 4:4 draw between Blau-Weiss Oberbauerschaft and BS Nürtingen. It goes into the decisive fifth set, which is played in the form of a jump-off.

13:57

Men’s shot put starts in a few minutes

The stage at the Brandenburg Gate belongs to the strong guys, including David Storl. The Olympic silver winner and double world champion of the past has not brought his old skills into the ring for a long time after many injuries. Best of the year is Simon Beyer with 20.41 meters. The German shot putters are currently far away from world class. The EM norm is 20.85, the World Cup norm is even 21.10 meters. If at all, only Storl and Beyer have a mini chance.

13:52
