The life of US rapper Lil Baby is the subject of a new documentary on Amazon Prime. As the musician announced, the film will be titled “Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby” and will be available on the streaming provider from August 26th.
The documentary will initially retell the rapper’s life story up until 2018. Lil Baby grew up in Atlanta, where he was friends with, among others, Young Thug – who is currently in prison. At first it was the other way around for the two of them. While Young Thug was building a successful rap career, Lil Baby ended up behind bars for several minor crimes. A hard time for the young petty criminal and hobby rapper.
Shared hit with Drake
After his release in 2017, he decided to try music seriously like his friend and released a first mixtape called PERFECT TIMING. He then celebrated his breakthrough in 2018 with his debut album HARDER THAN EVER, which also included the joint single with Drake “Yes Indeed‘ which became an international hit. Two years later, the Atlanta rapper released his album MY TURN. At this point, the actual documentary begins, in which Lil Baby is accompanied with the camera.
The musician had the following to say about the film:
“I’m glad I can tell my story and people care. The film is an authentic glimpse into my journey and if it just gets one person to believe that it’s possible to get through tough times and follow your dream, then it’s worth every penny and hour of work. My story is the story of many people and I am thrilled to be able to share it.”
Lil Baby: New album this summer?
The film premiered last weekend at the Tribeca Festival in New York, where Lil Baby also performed live. The film will soon be available to the general public on Amazon Prime.
The rapper’s new music could also be released this summer. A while ago he tweeted that it was going to be a “nasty” summer and wrote in another tweet: “7/?/2022”. A release date for his new album? We’ll probably find out more soon.
