Sam Ryder opens the Great Britain Grand Prix. This year’s British Eurovision participant will sing the British national anthem before the start of the race on the Silverstone circuit, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old singer says he was a huge fan of Formula 1 as a child. “To be able to combine that with music and perform at such a legendary event on the British sports calendar is an honor.”
Ryder will also be performing in the fan zone after the race this year. Singer Mabel will also give a show there.
The singer has already had a busy few months. Not only did he come second during the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, but he was also allowed to perform at the big anniversary concert in honor of the platinum jubilee of the British Queen Elizabeth. “The past few months have taught me that you can never dream too big,” Ryder said.
