Although there is also a snag at Corendon, reports The Telegraph†
Summer holiday via Corendon
Due to staff shortages, dozens of flights a day are canceled during the high season to reduce the crowds at Schiphol. But if you fly with Corendon, you can ‘just’ travel. They don’t have to cancel holidays, they announced today.
“All holidays that are booked on Corendon flights will continue in any case, whereby in some cases there will be departures from Rotterdam instead of Schiphol,” said a spokeswoman in conversation with the newspaper. Holidaymakers traveling with Corendon will be informed about this shortly. This is done in order of departure, so you do not have to ring the bell yourself.
Move flights
Corendon will not be in trouble with the flights because they have moved 150 flights to Rotterdam in advance. In addition, another 35 flights have been merged or already cancelled. That turned out to be enough, so that they don’t have to put a line through more flights.
What’s the catch?
Anyone who has booked through Corendon may have booked a trip using other airlines. Then you fly with KLM, for example. It is not yet known whether those flights will continue. In general, the cancellation of the flight is communicated ‘more than two weeks in advance’.
In the coming days, it is expected that a group of holidaymakers will be unable to leave. Last weekend it was announced which airlines cannot transport the number of travelers who already have a seat on the flights on which days.
KLM and Transavia, among others, are trying to solve the problem by removing some of the seats that have not yet been sold.
big crowds
The large crowds and staff shortages have been causing problems at Schiphol for weeks. There is a shortage of staff, especially at the hand baggage check, which causes long lines everywhere. It is therefore logical that flights to cities in particular will be canceled in order to reduce the number of boarding passengers with only hand luggage.
PACKAGE TOUR NOT EASY TO BOOK
It is not yet known which flights will be canceled exactly. For passengers with only a plane ticket, conversion is of course easier than for someone with a package holiday, since this includes accommodation and often also a rental car.
