Monthly sales in the sector soar 15.8%, its highest increase since the start of the de-escalation, in June 2020
The Industry turnover rose 23.1% in April compared to the same month of 2021, rate 9.5 points higher than March Y the highest since May last yearaccording to data released this Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
With the interannual advance of April, the turnover of the industry adds 14 consecutive months of promotions after having previously chained a year of negative year-on-year rates due to the Covid crisis.

Fixed the calendar effect and seasonality, the turnover of the industry rose by 27.4% year-on-year in the fourth month of the yearrate 16 points higher than that of March and also the highest since May 2021.
In the first four months of the year, the turnover of the industry has increased by an average of 19.6%, highlighting the increases in sales in coke ovens and oil refining (+106.5%) and in the manufacture of jewelry and costume jewelery (+54.1%). In contrast, the greatest decreases in sales in the first quarter were recorded by the manufacture of motor vehicles (-9.9%) and the tobacco industry (-9.2%).
Sales shoot up 15.8% in the month
In monthly terms (April over March) and in data corrected for seasonality and calendar, the industry shot up its sales by 15.8%, its biggest monthly rise since June 2020when Spain began the de-escalation after the state of alarm decreed by the health crisis.
All sectors increased their sales in April compared to Marchespecially the intermediate goods (+16.1%), followed by energy (+12.1%), non-durable consumer goods (+9.9%), capital goods (+7.7%) and consumer durables (+7.3%).
The activities that the more they increased their sales compared to March were metallurgy (+27.9%), manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (+26.1%) and the manufacture of motor vehicles (+24.7%), while the biggest cuts monthly were recorded in the manufacture of other transport equipment (-23.3%); the tobacco industry (-5.3%) and the manufacture of computer products (-4.6%).
Sales up in all communities
The industry turnover increased last april in all the autonomous communities in year-on-year rate.
The biggest promotions were produced in Murcia (+62.9%), Balearics (+41.5%), Andalusia (+38.1%), Castilla la Mancha (+35.8%), Cantabria (+32.6%) and Basque Country (+28.5%), while the more moderate they introduced them Galicia (+10%), Madrid (+10.5%) and Navarre (+13.7%).
