After long discussions with QPR
Fortuna Düsseldorf can finally report completion: Jordy de Wijs, previously loaned from Queens Park Rangers, remains firmly on the Rhine after weeks of talks. The 27-year-old has signed a contract with Fortuna until June 30, 2026. In the past six months, the central defender made ten appearances for Düsseldorf (one goal) before he had to sit out a broken rib at the end of the season.
“The permanent signing of Jordy de Wijs was a priority for us this summer break. We are very happy that we were able to win Jordy back – and proud that a player like him has committed himself to Fortuna for a long time. We’re really looking forward to the years to come with Jordy,” said sporting director Christian Weber.
De Wijs added: “This club, this team, this staff, these fans and this city – these were the reasons why I really wanted to return to Fortuna. Everyone here deserves maximum success and a return to the Bundesliga in the years to come. I signed with Fortuna for four years because I believe it’s possible. I believe in the process that we started in the second half of the season, want to be part of this path and follow it step by step with Fortuna.”
