Aleksandar Kolarov retires from active duty at the age of 36. The defender, who was still under contract with Inter Milan until the end of the month, announced this in a letter to the Italian news agency “ANSA“. “I always knew that this day would come sooner or later, but I’m still grateful that I was able to make my dream come true,” said the Serb.
Kolarov has been under contract with Inter since 2020, for which he only played 15 games. In addition to the Milanese, the left-footed player was also active as a professional for AS Roma, Manchester City, Lazio Roma, OFK Belgrade and Cukaricki. The defender collected the most appearances for the “Citizens”, for whom he made a total of 247 appearances with 58 goals and where he reached his career high of 17 million euros. Kolarov, meanwhile, still sees his professional future in the football industry. He wants to enroll in the courses of the Italian football association FIGC for training as a scout and sports director.
