Host Germany at Team World Cup in the round of 16

The German duo Gabriel Clemens and Martin Schindler has reached the round of 16 at the World Cup of Darts. Clemens/Schindler beat Spain 5:4 in Frankfurt am Main and will meet Denmark on Saturday.

Co-favorite Wales also made it into the round of 16. The duo of Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton defeated the Philippines 5-2.

The Scottish champions Peter Wright/John Henderson only get into action against Hong Kong on Friday. Last year, the former World Cup round of 16, Clemens and Max Hopp (Idstein) were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

In the first round, only a doubles match will be played in the “best-of-nine”-legs mode, the pros take turns at the target. From the round of 16, games will also be played in the individual mode familiar from the tour. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will take place on Sunday.

The World Cup, which has been held by the PDC association since 2010, is endowed with 350,000 pounds, of which the winning team receives 70,000. A total of 32 nations compete against each other, with two players each representing their country.
