The World Cup is not coming to Germany – another event is planned at Ally Pally

Germany is out of the question as a host for games at the Darts World Cup in the coming years. This is what Werner von Moltke said as head of the PDC Europe to the “German Press Agency” before the World Team Championships in Frankfurt am Main.

“That would be a decision by the PDC. But there is no plan. The World Cup stays in London and it stays in Ally Pally, there are no other tendencies – not even for individual game days,” said von Moltke. This will remain “until further notice”, there are no expansion plans for the most important tournament in the world.

The World Cup takes place every year in December and January at the Alexandra Palace in London. A number of tournaments on the European Tour take place in Germany every year, and the Team World Championships (2022 in Frankfurt) and the European Championships (2022 in Dortmund) are also often held in Germany. Moltke does not think it is likely that you will play in a football arena again like in 2018. “Something like Gelsenkirchen was a bit oversized. You noticed you don’t have to go to a stadium,” said the official.
