A 76-year-old man from Weert was hit by a truck on the A67 near Geldrop on Sunday night. The driver of the truck drove on after the collision. The man was said to have had bad luck with his car and walked on the hard shoulder. There he was hit by the truck.
The victim was taken to a hospital in Tilburg with serious injuries. It is unknown how the man is doing. A passing motorist saw the accident, provided first aid and alerted the emergency services. The collision happened at about ten past two in the direction of Eindhoven.
Police are looking for witnesses and dashcam footage of the accident. The investigation into the exact cause is in full swing, the police said. The road was closed for several hours as a result. The road is now open again.
