Ronaldo allegedly raped a woman in the American gambling paradise in 2009 and then paid her $375,000 to hush money. She had turned herself in to the Las Vegas police in 2018 asking for the investigation to be reopened. The Las Vegas prosecutor waived it in 2019. In addition, she had started a civil case in September 2018 in Nevada. Ronaldo has always maintained that there had been no rape.
The subdistrict judge dismissed the case, which could have resulted in a claim of millions, because of the way in which documents had been used. The judge also decided that the case can no longer be reopened, because Ronaldo has been damaged by the actions of the woman’s lawyer.
