There may still be new tax and social legislation and regulations for cross-border workers. State Secretary Marnix van Rij (Fiscality and Tax Administration) writes this in a letter to the House of Representatives.
The Limburg Employers’ Association (LWV) was recently concerned about the situation of cross-border workers who work from home after the end of the corona pandemic.
hassle
During the corona crisis, cross-border workers who worked at home who had a job in Germany, Belgium or the Netherlands continued to fall under the tax and social laws and regulations of the employer’s country. This arrangement will end on 1 July. But without this arrangement, it will be a hassle for both the frontier worker and his employer to continue working (partly) at home.

In response to parliamentary questions, the state secretary said it could take some time before agreement could be reached on a new treaty. “In the interest of the mutual relationship and a confidential negotiation process, I cannot go into detail about the concrete commitment and the precise course of the conversations,” says Van Rij.
For summer recess
The intention is to provide more clarity about a possible new treaty with the neighboring countries before the summer recess of the House of Representatives.
