More than twenty girls had become unwell at the We R Young festival. A girl reported to the nursing station around 5 p.m. and said she had felt a prick. The festival was shut down for fear of the phenomenon of ‘needle spiking’ in which victims are unknowingly drugged by means of a hypodermic needle.
The Limburg public prosecutor’s office today announced that there is no evidence of ‘needle spiking’ at the We R Young festival. A total of eleven blood samples were analysed, all negative. Of the eleven people who had a blood sample, one was diagnosed with an injury that could possibly be a needlestick injury.
“It involves thorough analyzes that not only looked for alcohol and common medicines and drugs, but also for new designer drugs and all kinds of other psychoactive and toxic substances. All analyzes turned out to be negative,” it reads.
