Lead actress Ricky Koole in particular gets a lot of praise on Twitter.
Best before
This new comedy series is about Anna (Ricky Koole) and Paul (Ruben van der Meer). Now that their adolescent children are about to leave home, a new phase begins for them: ‘The seven fat years’. Finally time for each other! But through a vaginal prolapse, mood swings and hot flashes, Anna finds out she’s going through menopause. This, in combination with a postponed career due to the care of the children, Paul who receives a promotion at work and all the perils associated with adolescent children, makes for hilarious scenes.
Uncomfortable
In the second episode it is son Job’s birthday. Anna tries to surprise him in the morning with a nice breakfast and a decorated house. She also plans to make a delicious cake for his afternoon party, but Job and his sister Mila are not waiting for that. For the rest of the day, everything goes wrong. The eggs are gone, Anna lashes out at her boss, Paul doesn’t have time to help her and if that wasn’t enough, she also lashes out at her daughter, who has just found out that her boyfriend is cheating. The whole party is going to be ruined because of this!
Recognizable situations in Best before
The funny and uncomfortable situations in the series are very recognizable for the viewers. “Hahaha nicely exaggerated but also a feast of recognition”, writes one viewer. They are also purely positive about the acting skills of Ricky Koole who plays Anna. For example, someone responds with: “Ricky Koole is a genius! It’s a shame the episodes are so short.”
What’s #best before a nice series. Ricky Koole is a genius! Too bad the episodes are so short.
