Kate Bush climbs to the top of the singles chart after 37 years

Kate Bush achieved huge success with her 1985 single “Running Up That Hill”. She hit number one on the Australian Singles Chart for the first time, and that was with a 37-year-old song. The hype surrounding the release of the fourth season of the mystery series Stranger Things on Netflix made this possible.

While “Running Up That Hill” a week before it had entered the single charts at number two, this time the song managed to land at number one. Here Bush overtook Harry Styles “As It Was” which also has a connection to a song by – it sounds like a variation on the a-ha classic “Take On Me”. At the end of the article you will find the video for “Running Up That Hill”.

“You may have heard that the first part of the fantastic, riveting new season of ‘Stranger Things’ just released on Netflix. It features the song ‘Running Up That Hill’ which is brought to life by young fans who love the show – I love the show too! ‘Running Up That Hill’ has therefore charted worldwide and reached number eight in the UK. It’s very exciting! Thank you to everyone who supported the song. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of the series in July.”

The hit series is set in the fictional small town of Hawkins in the 1980s. In the new season, series character Max (Sadie Sink) listens to Kate Bush’s song over and over again on her Walkman.
