Bayern Munich | Revealed: Lewandowski criticized Nagelsmann’s style internally

The change theater around Robert Lewandowski currently dominates the headlines at FC Bayern. Accusations of selfishness are also making the rounds. Some incidents that have now been revealed give a deep insight.

FC Bayern has so far been tough on the Robert Lewandowski cause. The German record champions do not want to give up the top striker before the end of his contract, which runs until 2023.

Lewandowski is also not missing any opportunity to publicly offend his employer and force a transfer in the summer.

In a Polish podcast, Lewandowski even went so far as to warn FC Bayern: “Which player wants to come to FC Bayern when he knows that something like this could happen to him? Where’s the loyalty and respect there?”

FC Bayern: Robert Lewandowski’s ego seizures?

Statements like these have meanwhile also aroused criticism that Lewandowski was ungrateful and acting out of sheer selfishness. The 33-year-old recently replied in an interview with “Bild”: “I’m not an egoist. I know what I had at Bayern and appreciate it very much.” His desire for a change of scenery has nothing to do with selfishness.

As “tz” now reveals, Lewandowski caused unrest at Bayern before the change theater with “regular ego attacks”.

In the past season there is said to have been an incident with head coach Julian Nagelsmann. According to the Munich newspaper Nagelsmann had tried in a tactics session to suggest Lewandowski a better positional play in order to be able to use crosses better.

The center forward did not attach any importance to the statements and only reminded that he – and not Nagelsmann – had scored 41 goals for Bayern in the previous season.

Of the “table football” also revealed that the veteran is said to have criticized “internally the way football is practiced”. A violent affront to Nagelsmann.

Controversial flight home

In addition, Lewandowski ignored the opinion of FC Bayern’s medical department at the end of 2019.

In order to spend his Christmas vacation with his family in Poland as quickly as possible, he flew home with a private jet shortly after a groin operation, according to “tz”.

At the time, the doctors had advised him not to fly so as not to endanger the healing of the wound due to the air pressure at cruising altitude.
