The corona rules were largely withdrawn last week, but had not completely disappeared. Hundreds of thousands of people still had to stay indoors, adding 2.7 million people from the Minhang district.
“Minhang’s lockdown will end when all people have been tested,” the local government said, without saying when. It is also not known whether the measures will remain in force longer if residents of the neighborhood test positive. Residents reacted indignantly on social media, they want more clarity. “What happens when people test positive?”
China has a ‘zero-Covid’ policy: people who test positive for the virus are immediately isolated, as are people they have had contact with.
