Red Dragons also lose in Kortrijk from the Czech Republic

The Red Dragons (FIVB 28) went down 1-3 in the Lange Munte in Kortrijk against the Czech Republic (FIVB 26). The set positions were 19-25, 25-19, 20-25 and 19-25.

The Belgian volleyball players started the tournament in Aalst at the end of May with a 3-0 victory (25-16, 27-25, 25-16) against Latvia (FIVB 54). That was Emanuele Zanini’s first game as head coach of the Red Dragons, the experienced Italian who was appointed head of the national team in January. This was followed by a 3-0 defeat (26-24, 25-16, 25-12) in and against the Czech Republic and a 3-1 defeat (29-27, 31-29, 22-25, 25-13) in Estonia ( FIVB 46). On Sunday, the Estonians also won 0-3 in Kortrijk (17-25, 22-25, 21-25).

The Red Dragons are in third place with three points, far behind group winners Czechia (15) and Estonia (11). Latvia is last with one point. The Belgians will close the campaign on Saturday with a trip to Latvia.

At the end of the six games, the best team from each of the three groups will qualify for the Final Four in Croatia. The Croats are automatically qualified, so if they win their group, the best runner-up (across all groups) also participates.
