A few days ago it became known that Warner Bros. had given the green light to start filming ‘Jok 2‘, thus putting an end to the rumors about its production. Now, the director of the first film, Todd Phillips, who will repeat in his sequel, reveals his title on social networks and confirms the presence of Joaquin Phoenix again.
Phillips, nominated for the Oscar for best film, best director and best adapted screenplay for his work on Joker, has published a post on Instagram with two photographs. The first is the cover of the tape’s script, dated May 18, 2022 and in which its title is read, Folie a Deuxwhich would literally translate from French as “folly of two” or “shared madness”.
The second is a black and white photograph of Joaquin Phoenix, reading that same script while smoking a cigarette. This confirms the presence in the sequel of the interpreter who gave life to the Joker in the successful first film, and for which he won the Oscar for best actor.
The title of Folie a Deuxalthough it is literally translated as “madness of two”, actually refers to shared psychotic disorder, a strange syndrome in which the paranoia or delusions typical of psychosis are transmitted from one individual to another.
This could refer to the presence of a new Clown of Crime that accompanies Phoenix in the new film, infected with his madness. In fact, Willem Dafoe, long associated with the ‘Joker’ of ‘The Batman’, assured a few months ago that he “fantasized” about the possibility that there was an impostor of the Phoenix character in the sequel who was played by him.
The ‘Joker’ movie had a budget of just 55 million dollars and obtained a collection of more than 1,000 million at the box office, becoming the most profitable comic book movie in history. In addition, along with the news that the sequel project had already been greenlit, it also emerged a few days ago that David Zaslav, the new CEO of Warner Bros., wanted to give Todd Phillips a very important role in the DC Universe, similar Kevin Feige’s in Marvel’s.
