On Saturday afternoon, the Berliners also won their second game of the “best-of-three” final series against Bayer Uerdingen with a clear 18:9 and thus defended their championship from the previous year.

The title win for the Spandau women is already the third in a row since a women’s team was built up alongside the successful men’s team in 2019. The water friends had laid the foundation for the success in the final against the permanent rival Uerdingen last weekend with a 12:8 away win in Uerdingen.

Spandau’s Gesa Deike best thrower

The team of coach Marko Stamm then secured the title this weekend with a sovereign performance in the local swimming pool in Schöneberg. They won the first quarter 2-0. After that, a game led with a lot of commitment developed.

The women from Spandau made the preliminary decision with two quick goals to make it 9:5 in the third quarter. Spandau’s Gesa Deike (six goals) was the best thrower in the 18:9 win, which once again proved the current dominance of the Berliners in German women’s water polo.
