Hockey, Final Four: Hamburger Polo Club reaches the final – hockey

Rot-Weiss Köln only lives up to their role as favorites late

In the first semi-final, Rot-Weiss Köln lived up to their role as favourites. The Cologne defeated the Harvestehuder THC 3:1 (0:1). The first quarter remained poor and goalless – despite two penalties against Cologne. The slight playful overweight of the favorite made the Hamburg team forget the first penalty corner of the game. The Austrian Michael Körper used this at the beginning of the second quarter to take a 1-0 lead – with a powerful flick into the upper left corner.

In the final quarter, coach André Henning’s team got off to a brilliant start and turned the game around in less than four minutes with two goals. First Kai Aichinger came free after a diagonal pass in the shooting circle and tunneled Brinckman to 1:1. Shortly thereafter, Elian Mazkour lobbed the ball into the net to make it 2-1 after it had been released in front of the goal. Almost nine minutes before the end, the preliminary decision was made with the 3:1 by Christopher Ruhr.
