The water polo women from Spandau 04 have again won the German championship. The Berliners also celebrated a win against Bayer Uerdingen in the second game of the final series on Saturday and thus crowned themselves for the third time in a row after 2019 and 2021. The title was not awarded in 2020 due to the corona pandemic. In the Schöneberg swimming pool, coach Marko Stamm’s Spandau team won 18:9 (3:1,4:4,6:2,5:2). They won the first leg 12:8 in Krefeld.
In the first quarter, Spandau led 2-0, but after that the game became a battle with many penalties on both sides. The hosts were initially more assertive and effective in attack, they dominated the action and pulled away to 4:1 (10th).
Uerdingen increasingly held back and reduced the lead slightly to two goals before the break. In the third period, Spandau increased the pace again and made a preliminary decision with two quick goals to make it 9:5. The final section became the title pre-celebration.
The most successful throwers for the doubles winner were Gesa Deike (6), Kana Hosoya, Belén Vosseberg (3 each), Emma Eliza Koch, Ira Deike (2 each), Nele Zelmer and Canan Weber (1 each).
