The Elite 16 tournament in Jurmala in Latvia is over for beach volleyball players Christiaan Varenhorst and Steven van de Velde. The Dutch duo lost in the quarterfinals to Estonians Kusti Nõlvak and Mart Tiisaar: 21-18 21-16.
Varenhorst and Van de Velde thus finished fifth, their best result so far in a tournament of the Beach Pro Tour.
Earlier in the day, Jurmala Katja Stam and Raïsa Schoon also lost in the quarterfinals in the women’s tournament. Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen were already eliminated on Friday in the men’s tournament.
