Storm (11) made a peace flag and got a letter from the king

Storm (11) from Made is very enthusiastic, because King Willem-Alexander has responded to his peace flag. He sent young Storm a letter. “The king thinks it’s great that I’m so young and already thinking about this,” he says.

Storm actually wants his peace flag to become the official flag of the Netherlands. Unfortunately, the king cannot arrange that. “But that is also logical, because as king he is not actually allowed to determine that.”

That should not spoil the fun for Storm. “I think it’s actually very cool that he has sent a letter back at all. Who can say that he has received a letter from the king?!”

Storm found the war in Ukraine very exciting. He wanted to do something, so he made the peace flag. Mayor Gert de Kok of the municipality of Drimmelen came to the rescue and ensured that Storm’s flag ended up with King Willem-Alexander.

Storm is proud of his peace flag.

Storm is now somewhat more reassured about the war between Ukraine and Russia. “At first I was afraid that Putin wanted to conquer the rest of Europe after Ukraine,” says Storm. “But now Putin has fewer demands.”

“There may be contradictions. I think they are beautiful.”

Storm’s mission isn’t over yet. He wants to continue to work for peace. “I just want people to get along well.” He had the yin and yang sign on his flag for a reason. “That is light and dark. Opposites are allowed. I think they are beautiful.”

The flag also consists of all the colors of the rainbow. Storm also made peace doves on it. With this he wants to show that there must be peace for everyone.

He still has one big dream for now. Storm would like to tell the national news about his peace flag. “Then I might find someone who can ensure that my drawn flag is really distributed in the Netherlands.”
