Hertha coach Schwarz about time in Moscow: “It was inner conflict every day”, football – rbb – regional

… the criticism of his decision.

I can totally understand the expectation that I should have left the club immediately. I’m not mad at anyone. But I can only make my decision based on how I feel. Always with the knowledge of my attitude against the aggressive war and always with the knowledge of the attitude of those around me – the club officials, the players and the staff. If I had even felt the slightest bit and had extracted from the conversations that life felt normal after February 24th, the door would not have been a crack open for me to say that I would stay here. Then it would have been the logical consequence to leave the club immediately with my family.

… the appeal of becoming a Hertha coach.

It’s a big club but we now have to work hard to create a mood shift as a community. With all the problems and difficulties from the past, it is now time to tackle them together. I am a person who wants to set a clear direction together with those responsible. This drive to help the club with a clear idea of our game is extremely appealing to me and my staff – regardless of whether it’s in the first or second division.
