Municipality of Hoogeveen has a new college

Hoogeveen has a new college. GemeenteBelangen, PvdA, VVD and ChristenUnie have reached a coalition agreement. The intended councilors will be announced tonight. The four parties together have 18 of the 31 seats.

Until the municipal elections in March of this year, Hoogeveen had a business council with aldermen who were appointed because of their quality and not because of their political leanings.

After the elections, it appeared that a majority did not want to continue with a business college. The parties would prefer to see aldermen again who come from their own stables. The board was formed after discussions with teacher Harmke Vlieg. She was an alderman in Assen for the ChristenUnie for eight years.
