Italy or ex-coach?
According to a report, Mario Götze (29) can leave PSV Eindhoven for comparatively little money and may soon find himself with his old coach Roger Schmidt in Lisbon at Benfica. “sports1On the other hand, with reference to their own information, AC Milan also brought the attacking midfielder into play.
According to the broadcaster, Milan is “first and foremost” interested. Consultant Volker Struth (“Sports360” agency) is therefore in talks and should be able to come up with a fairly affordable fee. According to the report, a release clause of between 4 and 5 million euros is anchored in Götze’s Eindhoven contract. The market value of the 2014 world champion rose again slightly after a prolonged negative course at the end of his time at BVB, most recently at PSV.
Under coach Schmidt, Götze had impressed in North Brabant and collected scorer points in every competition in both seasons – this season at least twelve goals and eleven assists in 52 games (six different competitions). Schmidt is said to want to bring the five-time German champions to Benfica, where he signed after his PSV departure.
As far as Götze and Milan are concerned, something would probably have to happen with the Rossoneri for the Memminger to actually be a conceivable solution. The newly crowned Serie A champion is to compete for Götze’s position for Bruges’ top scorer Charles De Ketelaere (21) as well as for his sought-after teammate Noa Lang (22), also on the offensive. The upcoming change of ownership should provide information about which players “Il Diavolo” can plan with.
