VfL Wolfsburg extend contract with Icelander Jonsdottir

The new German women’s soccer champions VfL Wolfsburg have prematurely extended the contract with the Icelandic international Sveindis Jonsdottir until 2025. The women from Wolfsburg announced this.

VfL had already signed the 20-year-old offensive player in December 2020, then initially loaned her to the Swedish club Kristianstads DFF for a year and then brought her to Wolfsburg during this season.

“If you consider that Sveindis has not previously played in an absolute top league, it is really surprising what development she has gone through in the last few weeks and months,” said sporting director Ralf Kellermann. “It’s particularly impressive how she has proven her qualities at the highest level in the Champions League – and not to forget that at the age of 20 she still has potential to take further steps.”
