Because of an overhead line fault, a regional train was evacuated on an open route in southern Brandenburg on Friday afternoon.

A tree fell on an overhead line between Cottbus and Calau in the afternoon, as a railway spokesman said. The line 43 train towards Herzberg could not continue due to the disruption.

About 20 passengers were guided from the train to the street with the help of the fire department.

The repairs will take until the evening. There are delays, diversions and partial failures in regional transport, said the spokesman. It was initially unclear why the tree fell onto the tracks.
