Tony van Diepen can already focus on the European Athletics Championships in Munich. The 26-year-old athlete from Heerhugowaard ran the limit in Dessau (Germany). In the 800 meters he raced to a time of 1 minute, 45 seconds and 30 hundredths.
In the final on the 800 meters, Van Diepen was the fastest of the entire field. With his time, the athlete even set a new tournament record. It didn’t matter that Van Diepen immediately had a World Cup ticket in his pocket, because he was only one tenth of a second short of that.
The European Athletics Championships will be held at the Olympiastadion in Munich from 15 to 21 August.
